Gunbarrel Commons Park Board
Statement of Reforms
October 29, 2026
The Gunbarrel Commons Park Board acknowleges that it is a representative body for the entire park membership — who own the park and pay nearly $150 apiece a year to support it – and adopts the following reforms:
The board has a duty to actively inform the entire park community — including both park members and tenants of Habitat, Powderhorn, Hunter Creek, Huntington Point and Willowbrook communities – of board actions and park news. The board will actively solicit comments and feedback from the park community, and actively invite attendance at park board meetings.
The board will use current communication methods to actively hear from the park community, including the internet. The board acknowledges that posting minutes on a kiosk is insufficient communication with park members and neighborhood tenants. Board members will speak directly to park members at the park and hear their thoughts and concerns about the park.
Board actions and votes will be conducted at regularly scheduled and announced board meetings that are open to both park members and neighborhood tenants. Email votes will only be permitted in emergency or time-sensitive cases, and will require confirmation votes at the next scheduled board meetings. If no confirmation vote is held, the email vote is automatically voided.
Board openings will be publicly announced to park members, and no votes on new board members will occur until at least one month after the announcement of an opening, unless there are insufficient board members to meet quorum requirements. The board will consider all membership applications from park members.
The board acknowledges its responsibility to supervise park management and question management actions. When an expensive or unusual project is proposed, the board will check for relevant industry standards and common problems, and discuss this with park management.
Board meetings will be regularly scheduled in advance with notification to park members. Meeting dates will only change if it is in the interest of park members.
The board recognizes that renters in the park communities fund much of the park budget. Renters are not voting park members, but are entitled to be notified of park news and board activities, and have the right to address the board both online and in person.
All financial statements sent to park members will include an explanation from the park board, stating (in its view) what is significant or changed from previous years in the financial document.
